Personal Experience

My history has shaped who I am not only as a person but also as a professional. Growing up in rural northern Alberta, I am passionate about Indigenous Education in the curriculum and creating a holistic atmosphere.

As a person of East African and European descent, I understand the importance of students forming positive cultural identities at a young age. Weaving students' unique heritage into the classroom is an essential aspect of inclusion. I believe that equality is a necessary aspect in not only our classroom but our community and an important lesson to be learnt within the microcosm of school.

Margaret Wheately speaks to the power of change within conversation. I believe that issues of sustainability and  understanding of diversity is essential in our current curriculum.

My teaching philosophy

Education creates meaningful powerful change and the ability for individuals to advocate for themselves and the world around them.

Conversation can only take place among equals.
